Float Glass Laminar Stress

Float Glass Laminar Stress

The LamMaster™ 2 can solve cutability problems by assessing the annealing quality of float glass. The system provides a quantitative parabolic through-thickness stress profile that displays the top and bottom surface compression, as well as the center tension. The easy-to-use software allows for quick and simple data collection for many different tints and thicknesses of float glass. The LamMaster 2 is a complete, turnkey solution that will allow you to collect, analyze, export, and organize all the stress data you need to improve your company’s manufacturing process.

Laminar Stress of Tinted Glass

The LamMaster 2 works on tinted glass. The 6mm grey tinted glass, shown here, has 30% transmission through-thickness.

LamMaster 2 reveals minimal frit/glass chemical interactions and/or annealing issues in this sample.

Laminar Stress of Laminated Glass

Stress profile in both plies of laminated glass. Sample is approximately 14mm thick. Coupon was cut to be 38mm wide.

Float Glass Stress Across the Web

The GFP™2600 real-time stress measurement system can be used to monitor the average stress across the web, including near the edges. Stress differences from edge to center can cause bowing. A similar system used to monitor area stress/temper patterns in architectural glass can be viewed here
