Each of Stress Photonics’ Photoelastic Stress Analysis (PSA) Systems consists of a GFP™ (Grey Field Polariscope) camera head, an illuminator, and a framework that ties the system together. FLEX™ Illuminator
The FLEX™Illuminator, as the name implies, is one of the most flexible, customizable illuminators that Stress Photonics offers. FLEX™Illuminators can be very compact for working on a small desktop or in conjunction with a microscope. Larger FLEX™Illuminators are also available when broader imaging is required. The FPI™ Illuminator is a large area stress imaging illuminator. Any number of LED light panels can be combined to accommodate any size glass product, including windshields, sidelites, backlites, and sunroofs, or architectural glass. REFLECT™ Illuminator
The REFLECT™ Illuminator is used when measuring stress in painted glass, such as automotive glass black frit found on windshields, backlites, and sunroofs. The versatile design also enables it to be used when determining surface strains on any material with an applied photoelastic coating.

The NIR/SWIR Illuminator™ is a circularly polarized illuminator. When it is paired with an instrument such as the GFP™2600, users are able to accurately measure stress through NIR/SWIR transparent materials such as silicon wafers, silicon-coated glass, and many ceramics. Numerous examples can be found on the Silicon Applications page or on the GFP™2600 NIR/SWIR page.
Long STRIP™ Illuminators can be used across a conveyor, typically in conjunction with stress measurement systems such as the GFP™2600. The Osprey 9 Complete by LiteSentry utilized this camera/illuminator combination to obtain full anisotropy maps of large lites in production.
